1275 Wall to defend against the Mongols
In 1274 Kublai Khan sent a Mongol/Korean invasion force that landed in Fukuoka. That attempt was thwarted and the Japanese built a 20 km long wall to help defend from any other attempts. This is a small section of the wall that remains at Hatazaki Shrine in Fukuoka.
